Job Summary:

The Director of Software Development and Data Reporting would be dually responsible for providing strategic leadership to all aspects of the Software Engineering department's projects and activities, as well as defining and implementing the strategy for delivering tactical data about our business to key decision makers throughout Comcast.

As software development leader, you will develop and implement strategies and work with project personnel to develop project standards and performance metrics. You'll have the responsibility of product owner and give development direction to a team of engineers building software tools to support the Reliability Engineering team.

As data reporting leader, you will find creative and strategic ways to combine disparate datasets to inform leadership on cross-program business objectives. The role will lead a talented group of reporting engineers who own and maintain strategic data sources as well as produce visualizations and dashboards that are used across the organization to solve complex business questions through data.

Core Responsibilities:

- Works with project personnel to define standards and frameworks with regards to coding, programming, and the general development of applications for multiple platforms.

- Leads the Software Development and Engineering team in the development of new software and web applications, and leads the continued support for existing applications and applications in development.

- Works as product owner of software tool portfolio, determining priority for functionality and driving features that produce the most ROI.

- Oversees implementation initiatives, software updates, and the roll-out of new software releases.

- Works with Managers to ensure all deliverables adhere to deadlines, specifications, and budgets. Develops and implements performance metrics. Reviews and reports on project progress to leadership team.

- Proactively identify, prioritize, and conduct analysis that drives meaningful change on KPIs and critical objectives established by the Business Units

- Leverages analytical background to determine when certain quantitative research tools and models should be used and assists in interpretation and development of implications to address client problems

- Be adept at managing competing priorities through planned and ad-hoc requests

- Have experience working and joining together large, disparate data sets to uncover actionable insights

- Promote and evangelize a culture of excellence, data driven discussions, healthy skepticism, intellectual curiosity, knowledge sharing and teamwork while maintaining an environment that is upbeat and fun

Other Competencies:
- Effective communication skills ability to 'tell the story'

- General Proficiency in application design languages (Java, Ruby)

- General Proficiency in database and data processing languages (SQL, R, Python)

- Big Data Experience a plus

- Ability to grasp complex analytic principles and techniques

- Strong business acumen & demonstrated aptitude for analytics that incite action

- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to progress multiple analyses in parallel

- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

- Ability to work effectively across functions, disciplines and levels

- Independently identify key issues, patterns or deviations from norm

- Skill in identifying data issues and anomalies during analysis

Job Specification:

- Bachelors Degree or Equivalent

- Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics
- Generally requires 10+ years related experience
