This position is with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company—the second-largest U.S. tobacco company. The company's brands include Newport, Camel and Pall Mall.

This position is responsible for the end-to-end Procurement process within the Indirect Materials and Services area of responsibility, which includes having buying responsibility for goods and services.  This may include the sourcing and management of a vast array of categories and commodities for one or more of the RAI operating companies via a service agreement.  The categories may include an array of Professional Services including Human Resources, Marketing Materials, and/or Logistics. Other categories will be expanded for cross-development. Indirect Materials and Services is seeking a qualified buyer to support projects in support of RJRT and affiliates.  The incumbent will collaborate with RJRT Operations Services, Finance and must be able to manage and/or execute multiple projects simultaneously.  The successful candidate will join RJRT Procurement Team in Winston-Salem, NC.

 

Requirements:

  • Ability to drive collaborative efforts cross-functionally and externally with outsourced vendors.
  • Ability to develop and drive key strategies at the department level.
  • Ability to work and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated project management, time management and team collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, written/oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with FDA regulated environment.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages day-to-day supplier interfaces including Purchase Orders, discrepancies, deliveries, etc.
  • Analyzes quotations and makes sourcing recommendations.
  • Communicates with clients, suppliers, and other Procurement staff to ensure the timely delivery of, and payment for, required materials or services.
  • Collaborates with client groups to define and communicate item or service specifications, or requirements.
  • Utilizing third party resources facilitates the creation and management of contracts, RFX initiatives and auctions in the eProcurement tool and the execution of accompanying purchase orders.
  • Supports strategic planning and the Procurement process for assigned commodities and services while exercising good business and analytical skills.
  • Implement performance guarantee contracts to minimize RJRT risk and increase supplier accountability for non-performance.
  • Develops, manages, and maintains supply relationships which provide a competitive advantage.
  • Perform benchmark category performance, applying market research and analysis for recommendations to client groups. Makes decisions independently on problems and methods in order to arrive at recommendations for management.
  • Participates as member of sourcing team.
  • Performs Spend analysis, category analysis and develop recommendations for issue resolution.
  • Manages special projects and/or assignments as required, using approved guidelines.

 

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent and 6+ years of relevant work experience; or
Associate Degree in Business or related field and 4+ years relevant work experience; or
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field of study and 2+ years of relevant work experience 

 

Additional Demonstrated Skills:

  • Experience in project management with demonstrated learning and or certification
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong functional knowledge of computers and information systems
  • Self-motivated, energetic, flexible, and adaptable to change
  • Broad understanding of procurement categories and/or commodities for Logistics
  • Experience working in a regulated environment
  • CPSM (Certified Professional of Supply Management) preferred
  • Experience using eProcurement tools
  • Experience using SAP
  • Engineering degree and or experience a plus
