Agilent's Technology Refresh business refurbishes used instruments transforming them into certified preowned systems thereby making the premier brand instruments available to a wide range of users.

Up until now the business has secured a supply of used equipment from returns or trade ins. The business is extremely successful and the demand for used equipment will soon outstrip the natural supply. Consequently we are now looking to start a new business function focused on proactively organizing and driving our sourcing activities.

In this role you will be responsible to build up a business-driven sourcing operation that actively manages the growing number of supply sources against demand based on a predictive sourcing model you will need to develop. The function will manage offers for used equipment, inventory and reverse logistics so we can fulfill our order demand in a consistent and predictable fashion. You will also develop the concept of 'active sourcing' in which your team will proactively work with the sales team on Technology Refresh opportunities of customer assets.You will manage a team of supply managers, reverse logistics administrators and business process analysts to optimize the whole process.
Key success factors will be the procurement costs of used equipment, the efficiency of the reverse logistics, metrics around meeting demand and inventory days in hand.
You will build up and structure the organization to manage predictable and non-predictable inventory, will create a supply model and manage a supply funnel as well as managing the inventory of pre and post refurbished instruments.
You will work collaboratively with operational (technical refurbishment) and business development (order generation) teams and product portfolio management.
You will be an experienced professional with strong leadership and team work skills with a track record of success in building new capabilities. Such a person may come from one of many different backgrounds but will have creativity, collaboration and drive as key attributes. Knowledge of tax and trade compliance as well as general business processes would be an advantage.

  • Develop collaborations with the sales teams worldwide on identifying and purchasing used equipment using the technology refresh approach
  • Run the sourcing operation to meet business objectives of cost, efficiency and quality
  • Executes business process initiatives in our Operational plan driven from the Laboratory Enterprise Division Strategies
  • Lead selected business improvement programs (SPR driven initiatives)
  • Develop team to fulfill skill and capacity demands of the business
  • Ensure team is motivated and inspired by their roles in the business
