About the Job
Responsibilities: Plans, directs, organizes and controls the activities of a Branch Operation which supports a significant sales volume. Ensures efficient and profitable operations; uses independent judgment within the framework of established policies in decisions affecting branch activities; makes recommendations and assists in the formulation of company objectives, policies and plans. Supervision of the physical operations of the distribution center, including receiving, shipping, and inventory control operations. Plans, examines, analyzes and evaluates branch operations with respect to quality standards, safety standards, and customer support. Prepares reports for Management review; evaluates current procedures; identifies/resolves operational problems; ensures all company standards are met; ensures support of all transportation functions in coordination with the corporate traffic manager; travels as required.
Responsible for budget control and justification for capital expenditures. Communicates effectively with other IM departments, customers, and branch associates. Handles details of personnel administration in conjunction with the HR department, including: disciplinary actions, performance appraisals, transfers, terminations etc_ Responsible for planning and implementing training programs for associates to include improving communications between departments and associates; development of supervisory skills, interpersonal skills and technical skills. Implements and interprets company policy; maintains company policy manuals; prepares and distributes memorandums when required.
Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred. Experience: Minimum five years' supervisory experience in a warehouse/distribution center environment. Knowledge of warehousing operations; budgeting; personnel management; and administrative techniques. Ability to analyze situations and develop solutions to problems; ability to interact positively and gain cooperation from personnel at all levels and to cope with interruptions, changes and unrelated details while maintaining or exceeding operational standards. Ability to travel as required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
