The Business Systems Analyst plays a vital role in supporting customers through technology. This person utilizes creative, flexible, critical thinking to analyze and resolve complex problems, processes, or support requests while driving continuous improvement. Overseeing and reporting system operational performance is key.
The primary focus is partnering with customers to acquire necessary understanding of business objectives and processes and with IT to investigate new uses of existing data and systems to achieve competitive advantage and to implement technology changes to achieve short and long-term business goals.
The Business Systems Analyst participates in small to very large project efforts to provide subject matter and application expertise; to gather data to inform impact analysis for business and IT; to perform validation of solutions to satisfy requirements, user needs, and business processes; to identify and documents defects; and to understand stages of testing.
Duties may include responsibility for documenting business requirements; initiating maintenance requests; writing test cases; and managing end-user testing.
The Business System Analyst helps team members grow their business, systems, and process knowledge and models superior customer focus, communication and collaboration.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems or related field.
Four to six years progressively responsible experience in systems administration, group insurance benefits, project management or business analysis, or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
Moderate/Advanced proficiency in two or more of the following: Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Principals and Practices, Lean methodology, Microsoft Excel, database querying applications such as SQL Server and TOAD, VBA, HTML and CSS.
Knowledge: In depth understanding of multiple divisional applications and processes. Recognized Subject Matter Expert in one or more systems or technologies.
Leadership: Serve as a mentor to other team members, customers and project team members to ensure success in meeting team and departmental and strategic goals.
Autonomy: Determines methods and procedures on day-to-day and new assignments.
Problem Solving: Performs accurate assessments of complex situations and able to recognize broad impacts of problems. Systematically organizes information to develop, compare and assess issues and logical solutions.
Interpersonal Skills: Listens attentively, proactively shares information, and seeks opportunities to strengthen relationships through collaboration. Effectively presents complex information to diverse customers in a compelling manner.
