The Syracuse Biologics Manufacturing operation produces clinical, commercial and launch biologics drug substance at its 5000L scale manufacturing facility (mammalian cell process) in Syracuse, NY.

 

The primary role of the Manager, Chemistry and Bioseparations, is to provide leadership to the laboratory teams to enable achievement of business objectives and scheduled testing. The Chemistry and Bioseparations labs are part of the Syracuse Quality Control organization. The manager's responsibilities include the following\:
  • Manage, plan and direct laboratory activities with respect to analytical testing of raw materials, finished product and stability samples to facilitate business objectives
  • Demonstrate initiative and job knowledge by suggesting ideas, discovering new and better ways of accomplishing goals and finding innovative, well thought-out solutions to problems.
  • Ensure compliance to regulations in the quality control laboratories.
  • Build and lead a highly performing team, secure the best talent, develop and strengthen staff and future leaders, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Ability to perform other duties as required.
 
Specifically, the manager will provide strategic and technical guidance to facilitate achievement of the teams’ deliverables which include; test methods co-validation, assay technical transfer, troubleshooting, and serving as method subject matter expert. This position requires thorough knowledge of quality control regulations and experience managing resources, utilizing lean thinking and scheduling along with continuous improvement. Additional responsibilities include participating in investigations.
Qualification:
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Applied knowledge and in-depth understanding of GMP Quality Control systems.  
  • Demonstrate problem solving ability, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.  
  • Ability to prioritize objectives from multiple projects, adhere to scheduled timelines while maintaining flexibility and attention to detail.
  • Contribute to a team based, collaborative environment promoting candor, clarity of purpose and high commitment to business goals.
     
Education/Experience\:
  • BS degree in scientific area with a minimum of 10 years’ industry experience, MS with 4 years’ industry experience or PhD with 1 - 3 years’ managerial experience.
