RAII-C is seeking a scientist, preferably a chemist, to support the development of new products and processes consistent with RAI Operating Companies’ Growth, Innovation and Harm Reduction Platforms. The incumbent will be required to develop new E-liquid formulations, complete assessment and testing, and compile documentation to support regulatory submissions. The individual will be required to interact routinely with various internal and external groups (e.g., Scientific & Regulatory Affairs, Product Development, Engineering, Procurement, etc.) and manage multiple projects to ensure business timelines are met.


Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Develop and execute research projects for current and future vapor platforms
  2. Support the vapor collaboration initiatives to develop superior E-Liquids
  3. Support the development of new vapor platforms through product testing and data analysis
  4. Troubleshoot and problem solve issues relating to product performance
  5. Assist with the preparation of documents in support of regulatory submissions


Position Qualifications:

  • M.S. or higher in a Scientific Discipline (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline) with relevant industry experience; or BA/BS degree (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific discipline preferred) with 3-5 years of relevant industry experience (tobacco industry preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of analytical methodologies and techniques
  • Working knowledge of vapor products, their design and performance
  • Ability to interpret and assess data in order to provide recommendations to the business
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and QA/QC Practices.  Working knowledge and experience with 21 CFR, cGMPs, cGLPs, cGCPs considered a plus.
  • Excellent project management and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication skills.
  • Technical writing proficiency and proofreading abilities.
  • Strong computer skills in order to learn new programs as quickly as possible.  Experience in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) is a must.
