Job Summary:



Focus on the ongoing sustaining engineering and support of linear video streaming services delivered via public and private cloud technology. Responsible for maintaining network quality by monitoring and reacting to variations in video, audio, and network performance. Minimizes customer outages by working effectively with other departments and team members. Analyzes and reacts quickly to technical problems and has an understanding of complex signal paths including IP video routing systems and QoS metrics. Works with moderate guidance in own area of knowledge.



Core Responsibilities:



- Ability to troubleshoot and repair all but the most complex issues. Performs maintenance activities with a minimum of supervision and guidance. Leads technical outage bridges and engages appropriate resources to drive issues to closure.



- Acts as an advocate for Engineering Operations procedures, policies, and processes. Ensures projects and initiatives are adhering to Company standards.



- Tracks and reports operational workflows; maintains records of results and feedback. Analyzes data and metrics, identifies problem areas, and provides actionable insight.



- Demonstrates high level of customer focus; listens to and understands customer requests and provides the most effective resolution.



- Ability to develop solutions during root-cause analysis.



 



- Advanced analysis, troubleshooting and resolution skills.



 



- Involved in more complex troubleshooting and research.



 



- Creates documentation and training processes related to supported technology.



 



- Collaboration with other departments to solve problems.



 



- Establish working relationships with vendors and other technical resources to more effectively resolve issues.



 



- Demonstrates intermediate level expertise and effectiveness in diagnostics and troubleshooting.



 



- Assumes a lead role in the management and execution of projects.



 



- Establishes trust within the team based on performance and availability; willing to extend outside of defined tasks.



 



- Intermediate functional understanding of TCP/IP protocols, network design and maintenance practices.



- Intermediate understanding of IP networking and the utilization of diagnostic tools for testing and verification of network connectivity and traffic. This includes basic set-up, analysis and documentation of those diagnostics and developing and executing restorative measures within the network segments under their control, and assisting Systems and NetOps teams in their troubleshooting and analysis.



 



- Create and maintain more complex reference documentation on hardware, applications and workflow and regularly present documentation to the team in appropriate settings.



 



- Accepts ‘on-call’ duties and being available to support the team with phone or email consultation during off-hours and provides shift coverage when necessary.



 



- Ability to widen scope of responsibilities to understand basic traditional multi-channel origination and media asset management workflows and technologies in support of linear video streaming services.

Job Specification:









- Bachelor’s Degree and / or two to five years’ equivalent related work experience in technical or engineering operations.



- Has attained industry-standard certifications and training.



- Basic understanding of technologies used and an ability to learn technology quickly.



- Familiarity with off-the-shelf software applications and their use in troubleshooting and diagnostics.



- Familiarity with virtualization and cloud-based software deployments.



- Working knowledge of video and audio encoding technology.



- Certification in AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure preferred, Net+ / Cloud+ desired
